Creek Week at Cibolo Nature Center

Cibolo Nature Center and Farm has lots of nature and art camps! During Creek Week (June 18-22) - Kick off the summer with us as we swim, fish, hike the creek, make leaf boats and learn about the wildlife that call the Cibolo Creek home. Beat the heat with water wars, water relays, and water balloons. You'll have so much fun you'll never get dry! $160 early bird discount; $175 after June 1.

NATURE CAMP 2018
$160 early bird discount; $175 after June 1. (prices are per week)

Nature Camp is for ages 5-12 years old. Nature Camp occurs during eight weeks in June, July,and August, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 1:30 pm. Camp activities seek to nurture an awareness and appreciation of the environment in school-age children. At the conclusion of each camp, parents are invited to a celebration picnic where campers present what they've learned.

Creek Week (June 18-22)

Kick off the summer with us as we swim, fish, hike the creek, make leaf boats and learn about the wildlife that call the Cibolo Creek home. Beat the heat with water wars, water relays, and water balloons. You'll have so much fun you'll never get dry!

Fishing Fandango (June 25-29)

This week will ALSO have a full day option this year. Camp will begin at 9am and conclude at 3pm. Cost will be $235 early registration; $250 after June 1st.
Master the best casting techniques and discover which baits are premium for catching the most fish, while identifying which fish live in the waters of the Cibolo Creek! We will fish every day while learning to bait, cast, reel, and catch and release native Texas fish. We'll also explore how important the water is to the fish, us, and everything in our world!

Messy Mania! (July 2-6)

This week will ALSO have a full day option this year. Camp will begin at 9am and conclude at 3pm. Cost will be $235 early registration; $250 after June 1st.
Snail slime to vomiting vultures - let's look at the gooier, oozy, sticky, slimy side of nature! This week will be spent exploring the different behaviors, defenses and adaptations that we think are weird but serve important roles in the wild. We will also be getting messy ourselves as we make mud pies, play with shaving cream and partake in other messy adventures.

Survivor (July 9-13)

This week will ALSO have a full day option this year. Camp will begin at 9am and conclude at 3pm. Cost will be $235 early registration; $250 after June 1st.
Put your survivor skills to the test at the Cibolo! Make a shelter, find water, go fishing and find out how plants and animals survive in the wild. We'll put your wilderness skills to the test with our compass and GPS course. Challenge yourself to be the ultimate Cibolo Survivor!

Amazing Animals (July 16-20)

From mammals to reptiles, birds and insects, we'll explore a variety of creatures, their habitats, what they eat and how they survive. We'll investigate the amazing animals and insects that inhabit our Earth - and have a chance to meet some in person.

Challenge Week (July 23-27)

Come out for excitement and adventure! We'll have fun friendly competitions while fishing, geocaching, fort building, catching bugs, sailing boats in the creek, making solar ovens, and water relays! We'll also hike, swim, make crafts, dance, and explore all of the awesome habitats at the Cibolo!

Wet & Wild Week (July 30-Aug 3)

Hey oh - fun with H2O! We'll spend the week exploring the water cycle, the role water plays in the lives of animals, and of course, playing in the Cibolo Creek. We'll also have water relays, toss water balloons, and splash around with more fun watery activities.

Reel Fishing Fun (Aug 6-10)

Spend this week catching fish in the waters of the Cibolo Creek. From Guadalupe bass to catfish, you never know what you'll find at the end of the line. We'll explore some favorite fishing spots, as well as try out different bait and ways to fish. This week is sure to be fantastic fishy fun!


ART CAMP 2018
$175 early bird discount; $190 after June 1st. (prices are per week)

Art Camp is for ages 5-12 years old.  Art Camp occurs during seven weeks in June, July,and August, Monday through Friday,1:30 pm. - 4:30 pm.  Art Camp emphasizes exploring the outdoors, learning new techniques, and capturing nature by encouraging personal expression and creativity. At the conclusion of each camp, parents are invited to an art exhibition where campers display what they have created.

Beading Bonanza (June 18-22)

Go bonkers for beading! We will explore the world of beads by making critter keychains, melt-a-beads, wind chimes and more.

Earthworks (June 25-29)

Come and learn to use nature as your art supplies by pounding and rubbing leaves to create unique patterns, making seed paper from scratch and designing a natural sun catcher for your window!

Terrific Textiles (July 9-13)

Engage your hands in the art of weaving and dyeing as we explore natural and man-made dyes. Learn weaving techniques and create a cinch satchel to carry all your treasures in.

Painting (July 16-20)

Enjoy a colorful week as we learn different styles of painting based on famous artists throughout history. Learn how to paint plein air, watercolor like Homer, and splatter like Pollock.

Printmaking (July 23-27)

Jump into a week of printmaking fun! We will make fish prints, use vegetables and the sun to create all kinds of designs on paper and fabric.

Sculpture (July 30-Aug 3)

Explore an array of sculpting techniques while making masks, paper macheing forms, cardboard creations, and clay shapes!

Smorgasbord (Aug 6-10)

Enjoy the last week of camp where we utilize all the materials from the summer to create awesome works of art incorporating all the mediums!


HERFF FARM ADVENTURE CAMPS 2018
$160 early bird discount; $175 after June 1st. Prices are per week.
9 AM - 1:30 PM.

Come out to the Herff Gardens and Homestead for a budding week of digging, planting, and harvesting! Discover how the garden blossoms as we pick fresh summer foods and explore different flowers, fruits, roots and seeds. Each week includes: hands-on activities unique to the growing garden, a special guest presentation, exploring the historic farm homestead, hanging out with our farm animal friends, swimming and fishing down at the creek, take-away handmade nature crafts, and a fun filled family picnic under the old oak trees every Friday!

Bring your young explorer and stay for fun and adventure as we offer indoor and outdoor activities that help your wee one discover and learn about nature using their 5 senses. We’ll be telling animal tales, planting seeds, hunting for bugs, singing, dancing, eating silly snacks, and creating unique masterpieces of art to take home!
