Cibolo Summer Camps

Kids can spend the summer on our beautiful 160 acres at the Cibolo Nature Center & Herff Farm in Boerne!

NATURE CAMPS

Nurture an awareness and appreciation of the environment and give opportunities for learning through nature play and hands-on activities. Children will engage in fun science learning while having fun in our many ecosystems with creek time and archery every week. See descriptions of each week below.

Time: Mornings 9:00am–1:30pm
Ages: 5–12

PRICE: $175   |  $160 FOR MEMBERS 

 

ART CAMPS

Art is for everyone and campers will ignite their creativity with support and learning about many different artistic mediums. Children explore nature and will come home at the end of the week with art that they created from the great outdoors. We will have creek time and archery each week. See descriptions of each week below.

Time: Afternoons 1:30pm–4:00pm
Ages: 5–12

TRAILBLAZERS TEEN CAMP 

With advanced hands-on experience, the youth will engage in learning about what it means to protect and develop habitat for a variety of species to support a thriving ecosystem. They will learn from the experts and have fun exploring the 160 acres of Cibolo Creek, our trails, gardens, and many ecosystems. See descriptions of each week below.

Time: Mornings 9:00am–1:30pm
Ages: 12-15

Camp Descriptions

June 7–11

NATURE CAMP | Survival Camp

Do you know how to provide food and shelter for yourself in the wilderness? Come learn the basics of wilderness survival as you navigate through the four ecosystems of the Cibolo. We will learn how to use a compass and how to collect water. An obstacle course will lead you on the right path to learning shelter building and signaling. Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

TIME: 9:00AM–1:30PM
AGES: 5–12


ART CAMP | Paint Your World

Take a walk through the Cibolo Nature Center’s many distinct ecosystems and paint the beautiful nature all around you that you see. You will learn new techniques and will use many different types of media. This is a hands-on painting camp using the natural world as inspiration.

TIME: 1:30PM–4:00PM
AGES: 5–12


TRAILBLAZERS CAMP | Science Camp – Adventures in Wildlife Biology

You can make a difference in the environment right here at Cibolo Nature Center and at Herff Farm! We’ll get up close and interact with local birds, reptiles, invertebrates, amphibians and we’ll practice real-world land management techniques. We’ll explore every area of the Cibolo Nature Center–the creek, prairie, marsh, woodlands. And at Herff Farm, we’ll work on the small-scale farm and create lasting wildlife habitat. You’ll walk away with skills to support humans working together with nature for the future of our place and our planet. We’ll have plenty of fun in the creek and across the land, as we explore and learn!

June 14–18

NATURE CAMP | Wet and Wild

Cool down from the Texas heat in this camp full of water fun! Swim in the creek and hike from upstream to downstream. Learn about all the living organisms that call the water home. Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

TIME: 9:00AM–1:30PM
AGES: 5–12


ART CAMP | Wild Expressions in Nature Art

Make your mark by expressing yourself through a variety of materials, medias, and techniques. Let us have fun as we draw, print, paint, press, build, and more. In the beautiful background of the Cibolo Nature Center, we can let your imagination and skills run wild!

TIME: 1:30PM–4:00PM

June 21–25

NATURE CAMP | Wonders of Wildlife

Take a deeper look into the life and environment of plants and animals! Meet bugs, reptiles, and amphibians up close. Learn how to find and identify native plants and how people and animals use plants every day. Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

TIME: 9:00AM–1:30PM
AGES: 5–12


ART CAMP | Fibers of Life

We will take a deeper dive into the world of natural textiles and dyes. With natural materials from the creek, the prairie, and the woodlands at the Cibolo Nature Center & Herff Farm, we’ll create art through the techniques of weaving, braiding, twisting natural fibers, and found nature objects.

TIME: 1:30PM–4:00PM

July 5–9

NATURE CAMP | Wildlife Scientist Camp

Become a young scientist! Become an expert on plants and animals and identify them right in your own backyard or neighborhood. We will create science experiments using things we find in nature on the land and in the creek and we will have fun exploring critters in our marsh. Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

TIME: 9:00AM–1:30PM
AGES: 5–12


ART CAMP | Art Found in Nature

We’ll marvel in the outdoors as young artists immersed in nature. We will use materials found in nature to make masterworks. We will paint and build with materials from the wild and spend the afternoons among the creek, woods, and trails filled with the natural beauty of the outdoors.

TIME: 1:30PM–4:00PM

Let’s explore, plants, birds, fish, bugs, reptiles, and amphibians together. We will explore animal behavior, habitats, and ways we can help make a difference for them at the Cibolo and in our own neighborhoods. We will have fun in the creek and explore the many ecosystems of the Cibolo. Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

Come sharpen your senses to survive in the wild while exploring the many ecosystems of the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm. Sharpen your eyes to find camouflaged animals, and use your nose to help you find the wild onions growing at the Cibolo. Learn the many sounds and textures of nature and who or what they belong to. Hike over to Herf Farm to learn how to create something tasty! Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.

Campers will have fun in the creek and learn archery throughout the week.
