The 15th Annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival: San Antonio
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which young readers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!
For 15 years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, Boston, and many other cities . . . including right here in San Antonio!
Get your FREE tickets for the San Antonio screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery on Sunday, May 9 at 11am at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts here: https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/90secondnewbery/90-second-newbery-film-festival-2026-san-antonio-screening
The screening is hosted by film festival founder James Kennedy (author of The Order of Odd-Fish and more) and a surprise guest TBA. We'll be showing movies made by kids from Texas and some of the best from around the country.
Again, tickets are free, but if you want to make a donation to keep the film festival going, we'd certainly appreciate it!
