BUD LIGHT ST. PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVAL | Kids Out and About San Antonio


St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated on the River Walk since 1968 as a joint project by the San Antonio River Walk Association and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas. This tradition continues today. Green Bud Light will be sold at the Arneson River Theatre along with Irish and other ethnic foods. Festival entertainment includes a family-friendly interactive activity called Passport to Ireland. Other festival activities include face-painting, henna artistry, caricatures, photo booth, Irish novelty items for sale and officially-licensed River Walk merchandise plus a bunch of new activities in between the musical entertainment. Durty Nelly's is the sponsor of the Tater Tot eating Contest and Mad Dog's British Pub is the sponsor of the dyeing of the river green.

March 16 & March 17 at 1 pm, Dyeing of the River Walk Green is brought to you by MadDogs British Pub. River dyeing starts at their River Walk establishment both days.

March 16 & 17, festival is from Noon-8pm

March 17, River Parade 4 pm,  14 decorated floats carrying Irish entertainment wind through the downtown area. The parade begins near the Homewood Suites

March 16-18, St. Patrick's Day Artisan Show, booths are located along the River Walk extension close to the Shops at Rivercenter

2:00pm             Hot Potato Game, rows compete in passing the potato for a rollicking hilarious good time

2:15-3:15pm     Kelly Singers

3:15pm             Gold Coin Search, kids find gold coins and turn them in for candy

3:30-5:30pm     San Patricio's Batallion

5:30pm             Rainbow Wrap, 2 adults work in pairs to wrap one in rainbow-colored crepe paper, first 3 to sign-up at event

5:45-6:45pm     Ledbetters

6:45pm             Nelly's Nice Knees Contest, Ladies 18+ vie for the prettiest knees, first 6 to sign up at the event, winner determined by audience applause  

7:00-8:00pm     O'Malarkey

Sunday, March 17, 2019, Entertainment: Arneson River Theatre

12:00-2:00pm    Fire on the Mountain Cloggers and the Tennessee Valley Authority

2:00pm              Tater Tot Eating Contest (sponsored by Durty Nelly's)- seeeking 10 contestants, sign up the day of- space available basis

 2:15-3:15pm     Harp and Shamrock Kelly Singers

3:15pm              Gold Coin Search, kids find gold coins and turn them in for candy

3:30-5:00pm      Celtic Comfort     

4pm                   Fourteen decorated floats filled with Irish entertainment wind through the downtown River Walk beginning at the Homewood Suites Hotel

5:00pm              Bounce the Blarney Ball, the whole Arneson audience tosses the ball till the music stops-then what happens next will make you laugh 

5:15-6:15pm      Inishfree Irish Dancers 

6:30-8:00pm      RTFM Celtic Underground
