DSASTX provides opportunities for over 1,000 families to foster friendships and receive support through parent information meetings, community-based social activities, special events, and educational programs.
DSASTX also promotes awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome within the community.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas receives no funding from the state or federal government and is 100% donor funded. The programs and events of the DSASTX are free to children and adults with Down syndrome and their siblings. Each year, the DSASTX must raise almost $500,000 to provide these critical services. The Buddy Walk is our largest fundraising event and is responsible for raising 40% of the funds needed to operate each year. Ninety-three percent of the money raised through the Buddy Walk supports local programming while seven percent supports the National Down Syndrome Society who works to ensure members of the Down syndrome community have a voice at the national level.
