Halloween Spooktacular – The Composer is Dead with the San Antonio Symphony

The Composer is Dead is a riotous collaboration between composer Nathaniel Stookey and children’s author Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) that combines two elements of great story-telling: music and suspense. In a special Halloween-themed Family Concert, San Antonio Symphony Associate Conductor Noam Aviel will lead the orchestra in a gripping murder mystery where every member of the orchestra is a suspect! Originally created as an orchestral work, The Composer Is Dead was released as a book in 2009.

The mystery gets underway at 10:00 am Sat., Oct. 19 at Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium with Pre-Concert Activities for Kids, including musical and Halloween crafts, games and an Instrument Petting Zoo. A one-hour narrated concert will follow, starting at 11:00 am.

Come in costume! – many members of the orchestra will too. Don’t forget to enter our Spooktacular Costume Contest – prizes to be awarded onstage in the concert, including for The Scariest, The Most Original, and Best-Dressed Dead Composer.
