3D Innovators (1-Day Camp)
Step into the cutting-edge world of digital manufacturing and bring your imagination to life from screen to real-world object! In this immersive, hands-on 1-day camp, young creators step into the shoes of industrial designers and mechanical engineers as they discover how 3D printers layer material to transform computer models into physical, tangible items. Campers learn the complete design-to-print workflow, exploring beginner-friendly 3D modeling software to design custom projects from scratch.
Throughout the day, students master spatial reasoning, geometric modeling, and balance while designing custom objects such as personalized keychains, game pieces, mini figures, or custom desk accessories. Guided by real-world engineering principles, campers work through the design thinking process—brainstorming, CAD modeling, analyzing structural integrity, and optimizing their files for the 3D printing software. Working alongside fellow young innovators, they’ll test and refine their creations in an encouraging studio environment.
By the end of the day, campers won't just walk away with foundational CAD skills and an understanding of additive manufacturing—they'll take home their very own custom 3D-printed creation as a special souvenir of their engineering achievement!
