Performances include Valerio’s son, Flavio Longoria, playing Conjunto accordion music, and Laura Niland and company, playing German and Czech accordion music. The day concludes with a jam session, combining the styles of various cultures that share the accordion in common.
Presenters on the history of the accordion, Conjunto music and the pioneers of the musical style include Tejano Conjunto Festival director Juan Tejeda, professor Manuel Medrano of UT-Brownsville.
Children will have an opportunity to make a paper carnation Mother’s Day gift at the craft tables.
