Get ready to dig into History! During this week-long summer camp, children ages 9 to 13 years old will participate in outdoor and indoor activities while exploring archaeological discoveries, methods, ethics, and more. There are two different themes for the summer camps. Archaeology 101 (sessions 1 & 3) will introduce campers to archaeology and build on learned skills through experimental activities (like cave painting, weaving, and garbology). Archaeology 201 (sessions 2 & 4) will briefly go over the foundations of archaeology and related skills, followed by a different topic over the course of this week (like skeletal analysis, Texas archaeology, and more). The camp will be held at the Center for Archaeological Research located on UTSA’s 1604 Campus, and the camp is staffed by the Center’s archaeologists, interns, and volunteers.

Sign up for one or both sessions.

Archaeology summer program for ages 9-13.

Interested in becoming an archaeologist for the summer?

Come join us for our archaeology summer camp! You will learn about past cultures around the world, how they lived, and how to identify artifacts from the past. You will learn how to do laboratory work and archaeological digs of possible structures and past human occupation alongside our professionals.

Our camps inspire interest in science and history by involving hands-on and mind-on activities for kids to learn about archaeology, conservation, and scientific discovery.
