BIG Fun in Casey, Illinois

By Meg Brunson

While traveling from St. Louis to Indianapolis, we found a fun town to explore: Casey, Illinois! Casey is a small town where you can see some REALLY big things! They have 8 items that are officially the "World's Largest" including the windchime, rocking chair, wooden shoes, pitch fork, mailbox, golf tee, and knitting needles! We also loved checking out some things that were not the "world's largest" - but were huge and fun!

The kids loved climbing into a giant birdcage and taking turns swinging on the perch. They were able to climb into the world's largest mailbox, and next door was an ice cream shop which provided the perfect snack! Other favorites included the giant pencil and taking turns ringing the world's largest windchime!

Everything (except the ice cream!) was free and it was a fun place to stop and stretch our legs on our roadtrip! We were towing our 35' trailer, and were able to find street parking just a couple blocks from the main stretch - we did notice cars had a much easier time parking right on the main road itself.

We walked a short distance - probably a half-mile of so, and saw a lot of the big things. There are some other items spaced out throughout the town, and if we had more time to kill, we would have explored them all... but this was a relatively quick stop for us - and it was so much fun!
