Game Design Studio: Ghost Catchers | Kids Out and About San Antonio

Game Design Studio: Ghost Catchers

*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 10/09/2025
Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will create a spooky-themed game using Scratch, a block-based programming platform.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how to set up eerie backdrops, add pre-made sprites, and program interactive features like movement, sound effects, and scoring. They’ll use storytelling and simple coding to create a game filled with mystery, suspense, or ghostly fun. At the end of the studio, students can share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Introduce foundational coding concepts using Scratch

  • Strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Encourage creativity through visual design and storytelling in gameplay

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • Scratch account (it’s free!)
