On December 14, San Pedro Creek Culture Park celebrates the holidays with Illume, a FREE one-night event highlighting the food, dance, music, and art of our diverse and festive community.

The 2nd annual event will feature food trucks and vendors with cuisines from around the world, a beer and wine garden, cultural performances, and music by DJ Steven Lee Moya. Performers include Tehuan Band of Mission Indians, dancers from the Korean American Cultural Center of San Antonio, St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, and the Carver Community Cultural Center.

The event also features custom, on-the-spot holiday poetry by Typewriter Rodeo, a pop-up photo booth by LMG Photography, and a temporary art installation by Ansen Seale, titled Luminous Creek Urchins. Seale describes the installation, located at the Boardwalk, as “a community of artificial creatures inhabiting the creek, that play and communicate with one another with the sole purpose of bringing joy to humans during the holidays. Their artificial bioluminescence begins just after sundown and they continue to frolic all night long.”

Be sure to stick around for “Shining in the Night,” a drum and dance procession with illuminated costumes by Carnaval de San Anto from the Boardwalk to the Plaza. Carnaval De San Anto is a production of URBAN-15, a local non-profit committed to performing new, unique and relevant art forms to the community.

This event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Free parking is located at 201 Piazza Italia and 231 W. Salinas.
