Kids Class: Honey Bees for Kids | Kids Out and About San Antonio

Kids Class: Honey Bees for Kids

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 05/25/2019
Your kids will see how a bee hive works and why they are important to our plants and flowers. This class will be presented by local bee-keeper and expert Jim Bills. The class will teach the history of beekeeping, the process of pollination, the variety and castes of honeybees, the beehive and its structure, and most important, what we can do to ensure the continuing health and well-being of our honeybee population. Parents can take pictures of their child wearing a bee suit and hive tools. Don’t worry, no one will get stung.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The value of this diminutive creature cannot be overstated, as life on earth depends upon their activity. For thousands of years, mankind has depended on the honeybee for crop pollination, medicinal purposes, honey production and apitherapy. Recently, honeybees have been on the decline. As important as they are to our self preservation, our job is to save them.

Milberger’s Kids Gardening Classes are free and we provide all the materials, but be sure to call to reserve your spot because class size is limited. 210-497-3760.
