Minecraft Modder: Customize Your World (1-Day Camp)
Step behind the scenes of the world's most popular sandbox game for a full day of digital design, logic, and custom modding! In this fast-paced 1-day camp, young creators transform from casual players into game developers as they learn how to modify and extend Minecraft’s original universe. Using beginner-friendly modding tools, campers explore the fundamentals of digital art, asset creation, and object-oriented coding principles to design their own unique game elements from scratch.
Throughout the day, students will dive hands-on into crafting custom block textures, designing powerful armor sets, and building entirely new biomes with unique environmental rules. Guided by core coding concepts like variables, attributes, and data structures, campers will see how their custom code directly changes the behavior and look of the world around them. Working in a collaborative studio setting, students will test, debug, and refine their creations alongside fellow young modders, developing critical problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills along the way.
By the end of the day, campers will have successfully engineered their very own custom Minecraft mod to take home and play with friends! They’ll walk away with real-world digital creation skills, elevated technical confidence, and a deep understanding of how code brings game worlds to life.
