Minecraft Survival: The Building Blocks of Code

Step into a custom Minecraft survival world to master core computer science concepts using block-based coding and JavaScript! Campers learn to navigate spatial coordinates, write custom functions, and execute conditional logic as they solve real-time in-game challenges. Throughout the camp, students design and program an original survival backpack equipped with four custom digital tools to thrive in their virtual environment!

Minecraft Survival: The Building Blocks of Code (3-Day Camp)

Step into a custom Minecraft survival world for an action-packed, three-day journey into the fundamentals of computer science! In this immersive 3-day camp, young programmers step up from basic block coding to text-based JavaScript, mastering how real code drives gameplay, automates tasks, and solves survival challenges in real-time.

Over three hands-on studio sessions, campers navigate spatial coordinates, construct efficient loops, write reusable functions, and program conditional logic ("if/then" statements) to interact with their environment. Working through a custom-built survival quest, students will design and code an original "survival backpack" containing four custom digital tools—programming custom algorithms for resource gathering, automated shelter building, hazard detection, and navigation assist. Working alongside peers, campers routinely test, debug, and refine their code in a collaborative, supportive environment.

By the end of the 3-day camp, students will have built, tested, and deployed their complete custom coding toolkit to conquer their Minecraft survival world! Campers leave with a solid foundation in both block-based and JavaScript programming, elevated logical thinking, and the technical confidence to continue coding their own projects.
