Northern Westchester Hospital presents Tweenagers: A Lecture and Discussion on Parenting Your Tween- 8pm EDT

The free program will take place virtually on Webex on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 8-9:15pm. The program will be moderated by Dr. Emily Bly, a licensed clinical psychologist and Dr. Marisa Picheny, a licensed School and Clinical Psychologist, who will discuss the tweenage years (ages 8 to 12), an awkward and challenging time when tweens navigate growing independence along with physical, emotional and social changes. For parents, this age can be rewarding and frustrating: Is my child a little or big kid, a little bit of both or 12 going on 30? What do they need from me? How do I best support my child while staying sane?

The program will discuss developmental theories about what takes place during this period, as well as the biological and social factors driving some of these changes. It will also touch on the impact of COVID-19 and confinement on this age group and explore strategies for best supporting your child during the pandemic. The second half of the program will be a Q&A.
