Step into the role of a professional developer with Unity, the world’s most versatile game engine. This camp is designed to take students from the "first click" to a finished product, providing a comprehensive look at how games are built, optimized, and delivered to millions of players on every major platform.
Cross-Platform Mastery
Unity is famous for its "Build Once, Deploy Anywhere" capability. Throughout the week, campers will learn the technical requirements for publishing across a massive range of devices:
-
PC & Console: Developing for high-performance systems like Windows, MacOS, Linux, and Xbox.
-
Mobile Gaming: Optimizing controls and performance for iOS and Android.
-
Virtual Reality: Getting hands-on with the Oculus Quest 2 to understand 3D interfaces, spatial awareness, and the unique capabilities of VR hardware.
The Development Pipeline
The curriculum follows a professional "Zero-to-Hero" workflow:
-
Configuration: Setting up the Unity Editor and understanding the project file structure.
-
Game Logic: Using scripts to manage player movement, physics interactions, and game-state management.
-
Asset Management: Importing 3D models, textures, and audio to create a polished aesthetic.
-
The Build Process: Learning the technical "Build Settings" required to export a game so it runs perfectly on different hardware.
Innovation in 3D Space
In addition to standard screen-based gaming, students will explore the frontier of Virtual Reality. By interacting with the Oculus Quest 2, they will learn:
-
VR User Experience (UX): How designing for a headset differs from designing for a monitor.
-
Spatial Tracking: How the engine tracks head and hand movements in a 3D environment.
-
Immersive Design: Creating worlds that surround the player in 360 degrees.
Skills for the Digital Economy
By the end of the week, campers won't just have a game; they will have a foundational understanding of Software Deployment. They will develop computational thinking, project management, and hardware troubleshooting skills. Whether they want to become an indie dev or a corporate software engineer, they will leave with the keys to the most popular game engine on the planet.
