Lone Star Gourd Festival

The Lone Star Gourd festival is a family friendly event where children can experience gourd crafting hands on. 

During August, families can experience the incredible diversity of gourd art.  This year Discovery World Learning Centeris teaming with the Texas Gourd Society to sponsor the Kid’s Make and Take booth where children create their own gourd art. The project booth is free to ages 17 and under.

In addition, children and youths may also enter the gourd art competition. Check the Competition Rules and Guidelinesfor divisions and categories.  Entries postmarked by August 4, 2016 are free. Entries after that date are $1. Entries must be received at the New Braunfels Civic Convention Center on Thursday, August 18 between noon and 3:00 pm. Ribbons are awarded to first through third place and a ribbon is also given for the Best of Youth Division.

Demonstrations of different gourd art techniques run daily.  Our artists are available to answer your questions and give you tips.
