Actors in STARZ, the JCC youth performance troupe for students in fifth grade and up, have been rehearsing and preparing for their spring production of Honk. The show, a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Ugly Duckling, tells the story of a Ugly, who goes on an adventurous journey and winds up learning about true beauty and teaching us about acceptance along the way.
“This is a fantastic play that allows both the actors and the audience to grapple with a tough issue - acceptance of those who are different,” Producer Rachel Rustin Henson said. “It tackles the topic with humor, love and song as only a great musical can.”
Honk won the Olivier Award (the British equivalent of the Tony Award) for Best New Musical in 2000 and has been entertaining families and winning-over audiences ever since.

Honk will be performed March 23 (7pm) and March 24 (2pm and 4:30pm) in the Vexler Theatre. Advanced tickets are only $8 and may be purchased by calling 210-302-6859.
